Crystal Singing Bowls

Quartz Crystal Singing Bowls

These beautiful bowls have such high resonance that, when played, you can feel their powerful vibration throughout the body. This high sound frequency is often used to clear and align the energy centres (chakras) in the body. As each note is played, each chakra is reminded of its correct functioning frequency, and is able to realign itself.

Singing bowls can also be played to cleanse one’s environment or objects (such as crystals or jewellery) of stored or negative energy. The bowls are often used to open and close sacred space, and may be played before and after a ceremony or meditation.

Although sold as ‘Quartz Crystal’ bowls, the bowls are poured and then cooled very slowly (rather than carved), so in fact they are more akin to ‘Fine Crystal Glass’ than a naturally occurring crystal. The manufacturers claim that pure quartz crystals are melted to make these beautiful bowls, and that is why they are named as such. Being glass, crystal bowls can break fairly easily if dropped or knocked, and care must be taken when playing them.

Each chakra vibrates to a particular note, as it does to a colour. Some crystal singing bowls are attuned to the chakras. Each of these bowls produces a particular note that corresponds to a particular chakra. For this reason they are often sold in sets of seven chakra notes, although pitch perfect bowls can be hard to come by. If you are looking for a particular note, or a complete chakra set, we highly recommend playing the bowls and testing them with a pitch finder prior to purchasing, as we have found that many people in the industry are not supplying what they are advertising.

All of our bowls are tested to ensure that you get the correct note. We invite you to come into the store to play and test them for yourself. We import all of our crystal singing bowls direct from the manufacturer, and offer them at unbeatable prices.

Please note: we also stock a range of coloured bowls at very competitive prices. The prices listed are for frosted bowls only.

Tibetan Singing & Healing Bowls, Cymbals, Bells & Prayer Flags

We stock a large range of genuine Tibetan religious tools. Our extensive range of Tibetan singing bowls is a highlight, and customers often tell us how reasonably priced they are.

Singing bowls can be played to cleanse one’s person, environment, and objects (such as crystals or jewellery) of stored or negative energy. The bowls are often used to open and close sacred space, and may be played before and after a ceremony or meditation.

Traditionally, the bowl is played by placing it in the palm of your outstretched hand, holding your hand firm and flat. Do not cup the bowl with your hand, as this stops the bowl from vibrating. Surround the bowl with light and love, then tap it three times with the wooden wand. Very slowly, start to move the wand in a circular motion around the rim of the bowl whilst holding the wand firmly. This is a spiritual practice, and it is done slowly and with care. If you hear a grinding sound, it indicates that you are playing the bowl too quickly.

Healing bowls tend to have a more beaten or handmade look about them, when compared to the more refined or finished singing bowls. Healing bowls are also held in the palm of your outstretched hand. Traditionally, healing bowls are struck (usually with a cloth covered mallet) firmly three times and then allowed to ring all the way out, as opposed to being played. As the name suggests, you can play them over the body for healing. They are often used in ‘sound healing,’ where the vibration or resonance emanating from the bowl cleanses and aligns the energy centres in the body.

Cymbals are also used to open and close sacred space, or clear one’s person, environment, and belongings. The two round metal disks are held by the connecting string (one in each hand) two or three centimetres above the disk. The two disks are struck together once and allowed to ring all the way out. The strike should be clean and sharp, so as to produce a clear and crisp sounding ring and long held note.

Bells can be rang or played much like a singing bowl to give a similar effect.

Wind chimes and bells are often used as remedies in Feng Shui. It is believed that, when placed in the correct place, they become powerful tools to correct energy flow and increase harmony within one’s environment.

The material from which the wind chime is made, the colour of the string, and the number of chimes or bells, can all help determine which types of energies that are blocked or enhanced. For this reason we try to stock a broad range of wind chimes and bells. Our many novelty wind chimes make a great gift idea for any age group!

Feng Shui

Feng Shui Products & Books

Feng Shui is the ancient Chinese art of understanding and manipulating energy flow within one’s environment. By balancing energies, one can enhance inner peace and harmony, improve health, and be more open to receiving abundance and good fortune. There are different schools of Feng Shui, and it can take many years of study and practice to become a Feng Shui Master.

Qi stocks a considerable range of books on Feng Shui. We also carry many of the tools and remedies that even a serious practitioner of this ancient art may require. You will find our friendly staff more than happy to take you through the basic principles of Feng Shui, and many of our accessories come with written instructions on their intended use.

The I-Ching, or ‘Book of Changes,’ is one of the most ancient oracles or tools for divination. It is thought to date from 1000 BC (possibly earlier). The I-Ching is said to be so complex that it allows for the complexity of life. This complexity also means that it requires many years to master, although, once mastered, it is thought to be one of the most accurate divination tools. Originally yarrow stalks were cast, but they were replaced in the Han Dynasty by three coins.  The reader interprets the fall of the coins by reading the hexagrams, or symbols, of the oracle.

Qi stocks a large range of books on the I-Ching, as well as coins modeled on these ancient Chinese coins.

Living Air Plants

We stock a variety of Tillandsias – a type of air plant. We have them attached to crystals, but also sell them separately. Belonging to the Bromeliad family of plants, they have evolved to be able to filter water and nutrients from the air via small scales on their leaves, rather than through a root system. The ideal environment for these gorgeous plants is outdoors, under partially shaded conditions. In colder states they can be left indoors in a position that receives filtered sunlight. The amount of water required will depend on the position of the plant. In a hot, sunny, and dry position they may require watering every 1-3 days; in a dark, moist position, every 2-4 weeks.

Hopi Ear Candles

Hopi Ear Candles

We stock genuine Bio Sun ear candles, as they are they only brand clinically proven to be effective for removing built up ear wax. When performing ear candling, it is easier to enlist the help of someone else, or get them to do it for you. Lying down, relaxed, with your head on a pillow, place a small rolled up towel in a circle around your ear to ensure that your face and hair are covered. Light the candle and, holding it upright, hold the base of the candle firmly to the top rim of the ear canal. Let the candle burn down to the indicator line, or just before it reaches this if it feels too hot. Have a glass of water handy to extinguish the candle. Turnover and repeat for the other ear. Each candle takes about 10 to 15 minutes to burn down.

Warning: Ear candles should not be used on inflamed or infected ears, as the heat can have a detrimental effect on some conditions. Please consult your doctor if symptoms persist.
