Your Money Is Only Worth What You Spend It On – Karen Kahlimna

Your Money is Only Worth What You Spend it On.

by Karen Kahlimna

Your money is only worth what you spend it on! Your Life is only worth what you express it on!

Take in those words.

To me they ring true in a way that I’ve not considered before. The original concept came through watching a Youtube video from Kyle Cease but I’ve expanded the original money concept into a fully blown ‘Life’ concept.

Let me explain….

Imagine that I give you a brand spanking new $100 note for you to spend in any way that you choose. You might feel a sense of gratitude (or not) and decide to take yourself to the movies and a nice dinner. You even buy yourself a glass of wine and you have a really lovely night. This night takes you out of the normal hum drum of life and gives you a reprieve but next morning after sending a little mental ‘thank you’ my way, you move back into life… work…. kids…. stress.

Last nights little treat soon starts to fade into the background of life and becomes just a nice memory. $100 gone and nothing left to show for it!

Alternatively you may decide to spend your $100 note on a couple of bottles of really nice wine that you’ve always dreamed of devouring (and never allowed yourself to buy). You drink it joyously, even sharing it with your best friend and have a great time. It’s a bit unfortunate about the headache you wake up with next morning, but oh well…. it was worth it!

Last nights little drinking extravaganza soon starts to fade into the background (along with the hangover eventually) after a couple of headache tablets. It  also leaves a nice memory… but….$100 gone and a very slow and laborious day ahead as you struggle to think and act clearly.

There’s one more alternative…

What if you decided to do something outrageous and spend the $100 on some books that you’ve been eyeing off but never had the spare cash to buy, or a healing or an interesting workshop, or you passed it along to someone that really needed it desperately? All great options!

We’ll use the books as an example. You buy these books, read them and they inspire and help you with making new and better choices. You wake up feeling excited about the possibilities because of this inspiration, and you bounce happily into your day (no hangover…. just happiness).

Or perhaps you decide on the healing that you keep promising yourself or the workshop that you know will help you and could have the same effect of lifting you up to a new level of enjoyment or knowledge. And…. the look on the face of the person you gifted the $100 note to – was priceless.

You’ll remember that smile and ‘thank you’ hug forever!

It changes YOU for the better!

You get the drift? Each choice really changed the value of the $100 note. Where one choice enhanced the value – another choice diminished it!

Now convert the concept to Life……

Your Life is only worth what you express it on!

We are given choices constantly around how we spend our day, our week, our life. We can get caught up in the petty things that don’t really advance us along the journey we call life. They’re really just space fillers e.g: TV, Facebook, drinking, junk food. Not that there’s anything wrong with these in moderation.

Imagine Life when we’re conscious of the lasting effect we have in each moment.

Everything that we do, every expression in life…. has an effect on not just ourselves, but our friends, family and society. The effect either adds value to our lives and the lives of others or it diminishes it!

Perhaps before you start out on your day today you can take a moment to make a choice about the effect you’d love this day to have.

What difference do you want to make? More Passion and Purpose? Greater Love? Awesome friendships?

Everything is possible!

Invest yourself into your day expecting and knowing that you’re expressing yourself in each moment AND each moment counts.

Do what brings you closer to your Truth. Decide that you are worth investing in yourself. Read that book. Do that workshop. Bring more satisfaction into your life through adventure and growth.

Add value!
